A New Approach to Serving Our Best Resource...
Our Kids!
Vernon and Melissa Reed

Dear Neighbors:
I have
met many wonderful people over the last few weeks, and I want to thank
you all for your comments, for informing me of some of your issues, and
most of all, for your support.
If elected, I will work hard to bring your concerns, as well as my own,
to the board, where together, we can work toward a common goal--to get
the job done. I believe that working together as a community we can
continue to provide an excellent, quality education for each and every
child in the Humble ISD. I am willing to put forth every possible
effort I can to keep Humble ISD as our main point of pride in our
community.
I would like the opportunity to help the Board re-work the Budget
and find where it can be cut without affecting the quality education of
our children. I would like the chance to work on finding a better
Health Care Plan and pay raises for our District employees. I also
would like to continue to improve our existing campuses. However, my
main focus will always be on the best interests of the students.
The four priorities of the Board are:
Achieve academic excellence;
Planning for our future;
Maximize our financial resources; and
Develop and retain our people.
The vision of Humble ISD is listed as follows:
Super ordinate Goals (common mission and vision); Culture (Collaborative,flexible,
inclusive community); Human Resources (Every employee an educator);
Operations (Continuous improvement); Organization (Site decision
making); Learning (Personalized learning...all children will learn);
Strategy (Accountability and data-driven decision making).
I invite you to visit my website,
VoteVernonReed.com.
You will see that through my various experiences I have a deep
commitment to these priorities and our vision.
I will be a Board member willing to step up and do the following:
Lobby the Texas Legislature for our fair share of education dollars;
Work with developers to ensure manageable growth that will not starve the District budget;
Ensure developers become invested in our District prior to experiencing need;
Prioritize our current resources to ensure our current needs are met first;
Ensure our Bonds address Academics first;
Keep our commitments to providing a well-rounded, college-bound educational experience;
Make difficult decisions based on facts, and not on politics.
I
believe the community must be active in these discussions, and I will be
an open-door School Board member who will be willing to discuss
solutions with all stakeholders before handing down a decision.
Please remember to vote Vernon Reed for Humble ISD School Board,
Position 5, on Saturday May 10. Together we can make a difference with
a new approach to serving our best resources...Our Kids!
Thank you,
Vernon
